DrugTrek, a small to medium enterprise (SME) and a very recent spin-off of BSRC Fleming and UNI-PHARMA is seeking four motivated Biomedical scientists (2 PhD, 2 MSc). The company focuses on Target and Drug discovery in pulmonary fibrosis, with one small molecule in advanced pre-clinical development, as well as several additional pipelines at different technical-level readiness (TLR) levels. The successful candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment across medicine, molecular biology and immunology, chemistry and pharmacology, chemoinformatics and bioinformatics.
The first position will be filled by a bioscientist with a PhD in molecular biology and/or immunology and extensive experience in animal modelling and molecular and cellular methodologies. A minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience and 1-2 high-impact first-author publications are required. The successful candidate is expected to be independent, possess strong communication skills, and interact effectively with scientists from diverse fields and at different levels. Remuneration will depend on qualifications, starting from the National unified salary scale.
The second position is for a molecular biologist (PhD) with advanced bioinformatics skills, particularly in scRNAseq data analysis and multi-omics data integration for drug discovery. Prior exposure to AI/ML, and a basic understanding of chemoinformatics will be considered as a plus. A minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience and a few high-impact publications are required. The successful candidate is expected to lead all related projects and coordinate all related collaborations (B2B or academic). Remuneration will depend on qualifications, starting from the National unified salary scale.
The 3rd position will be filled by a bioscientist with an MSc degree in Biosciences and can lead to a (“industrial”) PhD degree. The successful candidate should have documented experience with molecular and cellular methodologies and be motivated by scientific curiosity and academic excellence. Remuneration will be based on the National unified salary scale.
The 4th position will be filled by a bioscientist with an MSc degree in Bioinformatics and can lead to a (“industrial”) PhD degree. The successful candidate should have documented experience in the analysis of OMICS data; experience in scRNAseq data analysis, the focus of their thesis, will be considered as an additional qualification.
All candidates will be employed by DrugTrek and will work mainly at the Fleming hub, under the supervision of Dr. V. Aidinis, a Fleming researcher and the CEO of DrugTrek. Daily work will adhere to good laboratory practices (GLP) and focus on innovation, while remaining within a strong academic environment and aligned with relevant ambitions. Very good knowledge of English and strong computer skills are prerequisites.
Expressions of interest should be sent to V.Aidinis@DrugTrek.com and should include a cover letter outlining the candidate’s interests and areas of expertise, as well as a detailed CV that includes the contact information of two referees. Top PhD candidates will be asked to propose a brief experimental design for specific, indicated research questions (1-2 pages). Top MSc candidates will be asked to document their knowledge of specific methodologies. Selected candidates will be interviewed.
