Expression of Interest: Post-doctoral Researcher in Structural Mass Spectrometry

Expression of Interest: Post-doctoral Researcher in Structural Mass Spectrometry

We are seeking motivated Post-doctoral Research Associate to join our newly established lab at the Institute for Bioinnovation, Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming” in Vari, Athens.

Membrane proteins are the primary targets of most therapeutic drugs, yet our structural understanding of these vital biomolecules remains limited. This is largely due to the lack of technologies that can accurately track their conformational states and dynamic motions under physiologically relevant conditions. Our research aims to bridge this knowledge gap by investigating the molecular mechanisms of membrane proteins, using cutting-edge approaches such as biological mass spectrometry alongside other structural biology tools.
We invite candidates with PhD in analytical, chemical, biochemical sciences, or related field. We are seeking particularly candidates with expertise in hydrogen deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS), native mass spectrometry, and/or other structural proteomics methods. Essential duties include extensive experience in working with proteins (membrane and/or soluble) and developing related tools and methods for mass spectrometry-based applications. Candidates with extensive expertise in the development and application of broader mass spectrometry-related methods would also be considered.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with potential for research visits in other research centres, scientific communication and outreach activities. Additional relevant skills include oral and written communication skills in English, critical thinking capability and participation in conferences and/or publications.
The position will be competitively funded by a HORIZON EU Program, ERA Chair Grant (MASSTRUCT). Expressions of interest should be sent electronically to Dr A. Politis (politis@fleming.gr) and/or Ms Dimitra Chrysomalli (chrysomalli@fleming.gr) and should contain a cover letter outlining the candidate’s interests and areas of expertise (maximum 1 page) and a CV including contact information of two referees.

Deadline for expression of interest: 10/07/2026
