PhD position in Epigenetics and Cancer Biology

The Epigenetics and Cancer research group at the Laboratory of General Biology, School of Medicine, University of Patras, is seeking to recruit a motivated PhD candidate.
Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms through which epigenetic regulation of gene expression and mutations affecting chromatin-remodeling complexes influence tumor development, progression, and therapeutic response.

The project is funded and provides a 3-year PhD scholarship. We are looking for a candidate with:
• A BSc and MSc degree, or a five-year degree with integrated Master’s, in a relevant field such as Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or Biomedical Sciences, with a strong background in Cell and Molecular Biology.
• Previous experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and cell culture techniques.
• Strong interest in Cancer Biology, Epigenetics, gene regulation, and functional genomics.
• Motivation to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.

The selected PhD candidate will receive training in state-of-the-art experimental and computational approaches in Molecular Biology and Cancer Biology, including genomic and epigenomic technologies. The candidate will also join an interdisciplinary research environment with international collaborations and opportunities to interact with collaborators in Cancer Biology, Genomics, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics, and Precision Medicine, both in Greece and abroad.

Interested candidates should send a CV, a brief personal statement of up to 1 page explaining their motivation to join the group, and contact details for references to idrosos@upatras.gr by 20 August 2026.
