The Dimas group, at BSRC Alexander Fleming in Vari, Athens, Greece, is seeking expressions of interest from highly motivated researchers with an MSc or PhD in human genomics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field, to contribute to the ERC Proof of Concept project LDL-ACT.
LDL-ACT builds on FastBio, a multi-omics study that investigates the molecular impact of dietary restriction in humans. LDL-ACT aims to translate molecular and genetic insights from FastBio into a predictive framework for cardiovascular disease prevention, with a particular focus on predicting individual responses in LDL cholesterol following dietary restriction.
The project will integrate genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and gut microbiome data, with clinical and lifestyle information, to identify biological determinants of response and develop predictive models. The work will involve analysis of large-scale datasets through multi-omics integration, machine learning, statistical genetics, QTL analysis and development of genetic risk scores.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the following areas:
human genomics and statistical genetics
bioinformatics and computational biology
multi-omic data analysis, machine learning and predictive modelling
genetic association and QTL analysis
The positions offer the opportunity to work with a rich, deeply phenotyped human cohort and an extensive collection of molecular datasets, within an interdisciplinary research environment, and researchers will contribute to the development of a project with a clear translational objective. We welcome expressions of interest from both MSc and PhD holders, including candidates with strong quantitative or biological backgrounds who are interested in developing expertise at the interface of human biology, genomics, multi-omics and data science.
