Taking into account the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (“on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data” – General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR), as well as Greek Laws 4624/2019 and 5169/2025, the Hellenic Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB) informs users of its website as follows:
All personal data collected and processed by HSBMB originate from its members, third parties, and Organizations that voluntarily contact HSBMB either by submitting forms available on the website https://eebmb.gr/ or by sending an email inquiry.
Users of the website https://eebmb.gr/, by voluntarily providing their personal data, agree to the manner of processing described in the general terms of use and other sections of the website. HSBMB may retain content submitted through contact forms for a period of up to six (6) months.
The data collected through the website forms are handled with the utmost responsibility, used exclusively within the framework of HSBMB’s statutory purposes, and are not transferred to third parties for commercial, advertising, or other purposes, unless required by law or by court order.
The data collected include:
- Personal details of members voluntarily submitted: full name, professional information, contact details (address, email address, telephone number), application for registration as candidate members along with the supporting documents required by the statutes and specific decisions of HSBMB’s governing bodies.
- Results of research, studies, conferences, or workshops conducted by members, third parties, or Organizations consistent with HSBMB’s statutory purposes and submitted for posting, publication, or scientific evaluation, always under their sole responsibility.
- Any other information voluntarily provided by users either through the website https://eebmb.gr/ or via email inquiries.
HSBMB collects technical data automatically from visitors to https://eebmb.gr/. This may include IP address, cookie information, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, pages visited, visit frequency and duration, and referring URL. Both session and persistent cookies may be used. If passive data is combined with personal data, it is treated as personal data under this Privacy Policy. Otherwise, it is used in aggregated and anonymized form.
All collected data is used exclusively for HSBMB’s statutory purposes and is not forwarded to third parties for advertising, commercial, or marketing purposes unless required by law or court order, or necessary for the protection of rights, property, safety, or compliance with legal obligations.
HSBMB does not sell or otherwise make available email addresses or other personal data collected directly through https://eebmb.gr/. Any information voluntarily made public by users may be collected and processed without restriction.
HSBMB may provide data to its website service provider and accountants strictly for contractual, technical, security, maintenance, database management, or administrative purposes. All third-party partners are required to process personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the principle of proportionality.
User Rights
Each user has the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, withdraw consent, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with the competent authority. Requests may be submitted to info@eebmb.gr. Requests are examined within thirty (30) days of receipt.
Personal data that must be retained due to legal obligations (e.g., tax records) cannot be deleted before the legally required retention period expires.
If a user has a complaint regarding unlawful processing of personal data, they may contact HSBMB at info@eebmb.gr.
